Seeding the Now

Write about time, the planet, life, and diverse forms of life.

Write about the place you live and the places you love. How has the climate crisis touched them?

Ask questions—curious inquiry, urgent interrogation, caring queries, or angry demands.

Be part of a web of poetry that stretches across the planet, asking “When?”, and demanding, “Now.”

Poets and storytellers around the world respond to each other’s words—your words—with questions and verse. These linked poems and an accompanying series of murals reflect on people’s lived experiences of the climate crisis and national and regional demands for more ambitious, urgent climate action in Africa, Asia, the Pacific, Latin America, and the Caribbean.

Why Now?

This is a moment of peak energy for climate mobilization.

We still have a window to limit global temperature rise to 1.5°C. As governments invest trillions globally to restart their economies the world stands at a crucial juncture: a moment to set bolder commitments for climate action.

Led by Kathy Jetñil-Kijiner, the Ambassador for Culture of the Climate Vulnerable Forum (CVF), writers, artists, scientists, community organizers and youth come together here asking When and demanding Now.

Seeds of creative climate action collectively demand and grow the “Now” we need.

Share a seed of your experience of the climate crisis: write a poem, create a visual art piece, compose a song. These seeds will take root as radical beginnings in our creative collaboration across the world.
