gone
by Lori Dumaligan

gallivanting through Mother Nature’s gala
gauntlets worn over hands of blood
gargantuan consequence governing our future

guardians of the galaxy failed to save the sea turtles
gaunt men hunting for tamaraws and trees unrelenting
gone are everyone who ever saw who ever loved the eagles

ghosts are all the species and emotions are holograms
gas fossil fuels are depleted gone with the Martians
genes unavailable now imitate the skin of a crocodile

gear up shields up don’t expect to fish into our seas
what is your game plan when all the animals are gone?
