Demise of the Giants

Daphne Marie Siega

Those deciduous trees look so divine
Blanketing the vast fertile soils
Witnessing the majestic awakening of seasons
Underneath is a network of fine filaments
Nurturing each other in silence
In the shadows, a figure appears

Boldly plotting preposterous coordinates
An endless screeching sound reverberates
Thud! The demise of the century old giants
Vanishing in just a few seconds

This deafening cycle of annihilation persists
Will there be impending catastrophes?
When earth crumbles and falls,
When rainwater endlessly flows,
Regret lingers, everything else falters
