The Perfect Spot

John Philip Balladares

With the sunlight kissing my skin,
The sound of the green leaves scratching each other,
The wind on slow pace,
I felt at home like I was hugged by a mother.

I grew up in barangay Antipolo, in the city of Dapitan.
In a house surrounded by mango trees, coconut trees, and some big trees.
For everything that God has done,
I found paradise with great peace, therapeutic like green teas.

There I found my perfect spot,
Where I can see a big portion of the barangay.
Birds flying over the kahumayan,
Mesmerizing to my eyes.

There I can see the mountains,
Competing who has the tallest height.
There I can see the blue sky and fluffy-looking clouds,
Such a therapeutic sight.
