Plea for Mama Dunia (Earth)

Valentine Gechiko

Mama nature is screaming,
Her alarm system is going off,
Her message so clear,
Yet many deaf to her cry,
Their eyes see not the destruction
…or devastation.

She’s got scars to show,
The damage goes deeper than the surface,
Her beauty and diversity fading,
But she keeps on giving,
Life, abundance, beauty and nourishment.

We must all pay the price,
Even the most innocent are not spared,
Balance shifts, chaos ensues.
There is no earth B,
What future is there for the youngsters?

But we can all learn something from her,
To give selflessly,
To care and work with what we have,
To be good stewards,
Of the planet entrusted.
And mama earth,
Will welcome us home to her wild beauty.
