What Are We In An Ending World?

Keanu Rafil

What are our hands
But to build
Only to destroy
What it can’t hold?

What are our feet
But to leap
Only to walk
Under urgency?

What are our eyes
But to see
Only to get blinded
By ephemerality?

What are our mouths
But to speak
Only to stay silent
For voices unheard of?

What are our noses
But to breathe
Only to take
And never return?

What are our ears
But to listen
Only to be deaf
The louder it gets?

What are our bodies
But to live
Only to kill the space
They have occupied?

What are our souls
But to seek
Only to be lost
By what they have found?

What is to be human
But to wish for death
While finding meaning
Of what it is to be alive?

What is life
But to build a home?
Only the land, forgotten,
Is borrowed.
